Have you ever had that moment when you need a thing… a gadget… a thingy-me-wotsit, to help you do a particular job? You don’t know what it is, it doesn’t have a name, it hasn’t even been invented, but you need one.
I’m dubbing it “The Swiss Army knife of change bags”.
I frequently have this thought for many things in day-to-day life, especially when I’ve got my hands full and I’m having a knackered, stressed out Mum day. But this time I have found the ‘thing’. It’s The Cub Bag from Bax & Bay. And I’m dubbing it “The Swiss Army knife of change bags”. Not only is it a lurvely, luxe baby-change bag, its unique shape also allows it to function as a feeding pillow and carry support.
Trying to leave the house these days is a mammoth undertaking. To get out of the front door with baby and free-range toddler in tow requires having my act together and planning of military precision. Apart from them both being clean and fed, there’s the stuff. The stuff that you need to keep the children alive. The stuff that you can’t possibly leave the house without (but usually do). Let’s face it, avoiding a toddler meltdown in the middle of the street simply because you remembered to pack the humble bread stick is award-worthy.
So has this bag been tailor-made for me or what? I can throw all my stuff in, feed Alba in comfort whilst on the go and haul Noa up on my hip for a supported ride when she’s crying “carry, carry”. (That’s another tantrum diverted). And no more backache for me.
Designed by mother of two, Lynsey Burns, Cub Bags are made in the highlands by a small team of talented seamstresses (who are also Mamas of course). Following a South American trip, inspiration was drawn from the traditional, multi-functional, baby carriers of Peru with practicality and style at the forefront. A lot of care has gone into choosing super-soft, faux suede materials and beautiful contrasting linings, that are baby friendly and cover everything on the parental check list; waterproof, stain resistant, machine washable and hypo allergenic. Tick! There is even a matching change mat in each bag. And as if that wasn’t enough, there are mini Cub Bags available too for a bit of twinning with your little one.
“The Cub Bag name came about because of my eldest sons obsession with foxes. He used to tell me ‘we are foxes’ all the time……. We were badgers for a while too so I might have to incorporate that at some time too.”
I love how Lynsey has named Bax & Bay after her own little cubs, Baxter and Bailey. And she says of her super-cute fox branding, “The Cub Bag name came about because of my eldest sons obsession with foxes. He used to tell me ‘we are foxes’ all the time (he is still adamant that he wants to change his middle name to Fox). So, the cub bag was a natural name choice for the bag. They are my little Cubs, and inspire me with my collections. We were badgers for a while too so I might have to incorporate that at some time too.”
